The Tikka T3 or T3x action is a great foundation for a custom build. Tikka uses one size action to keep production cost low, and they incorporate magazine blocks and a longer bolt stop to run short action calibers. The T3 is well suited for short action cartridges, medium length cartridges, and a few long action cartridges. We don’t recommend building most long action magnum cartridges on this action due to limited space in the factory magazines, and a very short cartridge length. Ideal cartridges include 6.5 PRC, 7mm SAUM, 300 WSM, and any other short action cartridge. Below are a few cost breakdowns for different Tikka builds.
